How to sell soccer cards on eBay: titles, item specifics, photos and prices

Direct answer

Sell soccer cards on eBay one card per listing, in the sports trading card singles category, with a title that buyers actually search for. The title names the season, maker and product, player, card number and the exact parallel with its print run, plus RC, Auto or the slab grade where they apply. Fill in the item specifics, show clear photos of the front and back of your own copy, and price from the exact card and parallel, never from the base card. Ship singles in a sleeve and toploader, with tracking once the card is worth it.

Why eBay is the main channel for single soccer cards

Cardmarket, the usual singles marketplace for trading card games in Europe, does not sell football (soccer) cards. For singles most European sellers therefore use eBay, often next to their own Shopify store, card shows, collector groups or live selling apps. If you offer international shipping, buyers on other eBay sites can find your listing too, often in an automatic translation.

The title: write what buyers type

Buyers of modern soccer cards search very precisely, usually for one player in one product and one parallel. eBay titles hold 80 characters, so spend them on facts, in roughly this order:

  1. Season, for example 2023-24, as printed on the card or in the checklist.
  2. Maker and product, for example Topps Chrome UEFA Club Competitions, Topps Finest or Panini Prizm.
  3. Player and card number.
  4. Parallel and print run, for example Gold Refractor /50. The serial number of your copy (for example 12/50) is optional.
  5. RC, Auto, Patch or the slab grade (for example PSA 10), only when they apply.
  6. Team, if there is room left. Some buyers collect by club or national team.

Leave out filler such as "rare", "wow" or "L@@K". Nobody searches for it, and it pushes the parallel or the print run out of the title.

Item specifics: how buyers filter

Many buyers narrow the search with filters instead of typing. For soccer singles the useful item specifics are sport, player, team, maker, set, season, card number, parallel or variety, print run, autograph and rookie, and for slabs the grader and the grade. A card with empty item specifics drops out of every filtered search, however good the title is.

Photos of your own copy

  • Photograph the copy you sell, front and back. Buyers of parallels want to see the actual card, not a picture from the internet.
  • Make the serial number readable on numbered cards.
  • Refractors and wave patterns show best at a slight angle in even light. Avoid glare that hides the surface.
  • For slabs, the label with company, grade and cert number must be readable.

Condition and the parallel

For raw cards you set the condition yourself after looking at centering, corners, edges and surface, and you name every defect. For slabs the grade is the one on the label. Name a parallel only when you are sure: check the print run on the card and the pattern on your photo. A wrong parallel quickly leads to a return, because two parallels of one card are different products.

The price

Price the exact card and parallel, raw and graded separately, and for slabs the same company and grade. Sold listings show what buyers paid; active listings show what sellers ask, together with how many copies compete with yours. How to value a card step by step: how much are my soccer cards worth. Shipping

  • Singles go into a soft sleeve and a toploader, ideally sealed in a team bag, inside a stiff envelope or a small card mailer.
  • Send valuable cards with tracking and, where it makes sense, insurance. Buyers of numbered parallels often expect it.
  • Slabs travel in bubble wrap in a small box, not in an envelope.

Selling as a business in the EU

Business sellers in the EU also need product safety details (GPSR) in their listings: the manufacturer and, for a maker outside the EU, a responsible person in the EU. Football cards come from several makers, so this is set per maker, not once for all cards. This is a pointer, not legal advice.

A faster workflow with NeoSatoshi

  1. In Listing Cards, pick Football with the card game switch and upload photos or scans. One photo can hold several cards, for example a binder page (best with up to about 20 cards per photo), and each card becomes its own row with its own cut out photo.
  2. Confirm card and parallel row by row in the review table. The five best card suggestions and a parallel suggestion are ready; keys 1 to 5 pick a card, B sets Base, P opens all parallels and Enter confirms and moves on. Slabs are read from the label with company, grade and cert number.
  3. Check the price: the middle asking price of active eBay listings for exactly that card and parallel (for slabs the same company and grade), with the number of listings. Type a price where there is none.
  4. List directly on eBay (Business plan or higher) or download the eBay CSV on any plan. The listing goes into the sports trading card singles category with a title, description and item specifics built for football cards, one listing per scanned copy. Two parallels of one card are never merged into one listing.

The page football (soccer) card listing software shows the whole workflow, including Shopify.

What NeoSatoshi does not do

  • It does not grade condition. Every card starts as Near Mint (NM) or your default condition, and you set it.
  • It does not list soccer cards on Cardmarket, because Cardmarket does not sell them.
  • Price rules do not apply to football cards, and the daily price sync does not update football listings yet.

Frequently asked questions

Should I sell soccer cards one by one or as a lot?

Sought-after players, rookie cards, numbered parallels, autographs and slabs sell best one by one. Base cards of less sought-after players and most Match Attax cards usually sell better as lots or team sets, because a single listing costs more time than the card brings.

Fixed price or auction?

Fixed price with offers allowed is the simple choice for most singles. An auction makes sense for sought-after cards that many buyers bid on; with a low start price you carry the risk of a low final price.

Do I need a photo of the back?

For buyers, yes: it shows the condition of the back and often the card number. For recognition in NeoSatoshi the front is enough.
