Is there a card scanner that reads graded slabs from PSA, BGS and CGC?
Direct answer
Yes. NeoSatoshi reads the grading company, the grade and the cert number from PSA, BGS and CGC labels in a normal photo or scan. It works for Pokémon, One Piece, Disney Lorcana, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Magic: The Gathering and Star Wars: Unlimited, and it identifies the card as well. It prices the slab from eBay listings with the same company and grade and carries the grade into the listing. It reads the grade printed on the label and never estimates one.
What is read from a slab
- The grading company: PSA, BGS (Beckett) or CGC.
- The grade, on that company's own scale, including CGC 10 Pristine, BGS 10 Black Label and PSA Authentic.
- The cert number, so the listing can name it.
- The card. The label also names the card, which gives a second opinion on the card recognised through the plastic.
How it works
- Upload a photo or scan of the slab like any other card, with the label straight and without glare. There is no separate slab mode.
- In the table the card shows a grade chip, for example PSA 10, before the name and in the Condition column. Click it to correct company, grade or cert number.
- If the label points to another card than the one detected, the row shows a "!" and you pick which one is right. When exactly one card clearly fits the label, it is taken automatically and you can undo it.
- If the grade could not be read, the chip asks you to enter it. A graded card without company or grade is not listed until both are set, and it is never listed as an ungraded card.
What the price is
- Slabs are priced from eBay only: the median of active Buy It Now listings of the same card with the same company and grade.
- Your eBay site comes first, then up to two of eBay.com, eBay.co.uk and eBay.de when yours has too few listings.
- Listings of other companies appear only as a reference, never as the price. A PSA 10 and a CGC 10 do not sell at the same price.
- Without enough listings you enter your own price. These are asking prices, not sold prices, so check sold listings for valuable slabs.
- Cardmarket and TCGplayer prices are for raw cards and are not used. The daily price sync never changes a slab.
What each channel gets
- eBay Direct Listing (Business plan or higher): condition Graded, plus company, grade and cert number. The slab photo comes first, your card crop after it.
- eBay CSV: eBay drafts do not keep company, grade and cert number. Add them in Seller Hub or use Direct Listing.
- Shopify: an own product per slab, with graded metafields and tags.
- Cardmarket through TCGPowerTools: Cardmarket has no field for graded cards, so the CSV lists a slab as a normal single with the grade at the start of its comment.
- Custom export and templates can use grader, grade and cert number.
Limits
- It does not grade cards or estimate condition. It reads the label.
- Labels of other companies, for example SGC, TAG or AP Grading, are not read. You set company, grade and price yourself.
- It does not verify the cert number and does not check authenticity.
- A sideways card, a very tight crop or glare on the label can make it miss a slab or its grade. The row then comes in as a normal card or asks for the grade, so check the chip.
- The language rules of each game still apply. Magic and Star Wars: Unlimited cover English, German, French, Italian and Spanish cards, Yu-Gi-Oh! the TCG prints. Check the language of the row, because a label does not always name it.
Frequently asked questions
Is this available in an API?
Yes. In the Detection API, a slab fills cards[].graded with company, grade, cert number and what the label names. The prices in the response stay those of the raw card.
Does a slab cost more than a raw card?
No. A slab is one card scan like any other card.
Can I mix slabs and raw cards in one batch?
Yes, as long as they are the same game, because one batch is always one game. Each row is priced and listed by its own kind.
Can I mark a card as graded by hand?
Yes. Pick Graded (slab)… in the condition dropdown, or use the Grading field in bulk edit to set the company for many cards at once.
Will it tell me which grade my raw card would get?
No. On a raw card it never judges condition. Whether a card is worth sending in is a separate question: see when a card is worth grading.

Try it with a slab
Upload a photo of a slab. Company, grade and cert number are read off the label, and the listing carries them to eBay or Shopify.
No account required for the first 10 detections.
