How do I sell graded Magic cards from PSA, BGS and CGC?
Direct answer
Sell a graded Magic card as a slab, not as a raw card: name the grading company and the grade, the printing, the language and the cert number, and show a clear photo of the label. eBay is the usual place for slabs, because Cardmarket has no field for graded cards. Price from listings with the same company and grade, not from the raw price. NeoSatoshi reads company, grade and cert number off PSA, BGS and CGC labels. It reads what the label says and never judges the condition or estimates a grade.
What a buyer of a slab wants to see
- Company and grade, exactly as on the label, for example PSA 10 or BGS 9.5.
- The cert number. It lets the buyer look the slab up with the grading company.
- The printing. A PSA 9 of one printing and a PSA 9 of another are different items, see how to tell which printing you have.
- Foil or non-foil, and the language of the card.
- Sharp photos of the slab with the whole label readable, front and back.
Pricing a slab
- A slab has its own market. Cardmarket and TCGplayer prices are for raw cards and say little about a graded copy.
- Compare the same company and grade. A grade from one company does not sell at the price of the same number from another.
- Look at sold listings as well as active ones. Active listings show asking prices only.
- For rare slabs there may be few listings to compare, so treat any number as a rough guide.
Whether a card is worth sending in at all is a separate question. The reasoning (grading cost, shipping and waiting time against the price gap) is the same across games: see when a card is worth grading.
How NeoSatoshi handles a Magic slab
- Upload a photo of the slab like any other card, label straight and without glare. Slabs from PSA, BGS (Beckett) and CGC are recognised.
- NeoSatoshi reads the grading company, the grade and the cert number from the label. That is the grade printed on the slab, never an estimate. The cert number is not verified with the grading company, and authenticity is not checked.
- The card is identified from its text through the slab. When that text cannot be read, the card comes from the name on the label. The name on a label is English, also on a German card.
- In the table the grade chip, for example PSA 10, stands before the name and in the Condition column. Click it to correct company, grade or cert number. To mark a card as graded by hand, pick Graded (slab)… in the condition dropdown.
- If the label points to another card than the one detected, the row shows a "!" with Use the card on the label or Keep the detected card. When exactly one card clearly fits the label and the label also names its printing, it is taken automatically and you can undo it.
- The printing works as on a raw card: without a known printing, pick it in step 2. Set the Foil switch yourself as well, because the finish is not read.
What the slab price is in NeoSatoshi
- Slabs are priced from eBay only. The eBay (graded) column shows the median of active Buy It Now listings of the same printing with the same company and grade, on your eBay site first, then on eBay.com, eBay.co.uk and eBay.de when yours has too few.
- A foil copy is compared with foil listings, a non-foil copy with non-foil ones.
- A card without a known printing gets no slab price until you pick the printing.
- With fewer than 3 matching listings there is no price, which can easily happen with Magic slabs. Enter your own price; it is required before the export.
- Listings of other companies appear only as a reference, never as the price.
- Cardmarket and TCGplayer show not for slabs. Bulk price buttons skip slabs, and the daily price sync never changes them.
- These are asking prices, not sold prices, so check sold listings for valuable slabs.
What each channel gets
- eBay Direct Listing (Business plan and up). Condition Graded, plus company, grade and cert number. The slab photo comes first, your card crop after it.
- eBay CSV. eBay drafts do not keep the grading company, grade and cert number. Add them in Seller Hub or use Direct Listing.
- Shopify. An own product per slab, with the graded metafields (Graded, Grading company, Grade, Cert number) and tags.
- Cardmarket through TCGPowerTools. Cardmarket has no field for graded cards, so the CSV lists a slab as a normal single with the grade at the start of its comment, for example PSA 10 · Cert 12345678.
A graded card without company or grade is not listed until both are set. It is never listed as an ungraded card.
What NeoSatoshi does not do with slabs
- It does not grade or estimate condition. It reads the label.
- It does not read labels of other companies, for example SGC, TAG or AP Grading. Such a slab comes in as a normal card, or as a graded card whose company you pick, and you set company and grade yourself.
- It does not serve slabs of other languages. As with raw Magic cards, only English and German are supported; a Japanese or French card in a slab gives no card and uses no card scan.
- It does not verify the cert number and does not check authenticity.
- It has no sold prices for slabs, only active eBay listings.
Common mistakes
- Pricing a slab from the raw Cardmarket price.
- Comparing a PSA 9 with a BGS 9 as if they were the same.
- Leaving the printing open: the label names the card, but without the printing there is no slab price.
- Photographing the label with glare, so that grade and cert number cannot be read.
- Using the eBay CSV and forgetting that the draft loses company, grade and cert number.
Frequently asked questions
Does NeoSatoshi grade my Magic cards?
No. It reads the grade off the label of a slab. On a raw card it never judges the condition; every card starts as Near Mint and you set the condition.
Which grading companies are read?
PSA, BGS (Beckett) and CGC. For other companies you enter company and grade yourself, and you enter the price yourself as well.
Can I list graded Magic cards on Cardmarket?
Cardmarket has no field for graded cards. The TCGPowerTools CSV lists a slab as a normal single with the grade in its comment. eBay and Shopify carry the graded details properly.
Why is there no price on my slab?
Either the printing is still open, or eBay has fewer than 3 active listings of that printing with that company and grade. Pick the printing, or enter your own price.
