Star Wars: Unlimited foil and Serialized cards: how are they priced and listed?

Direct answer

Foil has two models. On Spark of Rebellion, Shadows of the Galaxy and Twilight of the Republic a foil shares the number with the normal card, so the seller decides with a switch, and the switch moves the prices to the foil prices. Newer sets give a foil its own number and its own prices. A Serialized Prestige is different again: the number on the copy moves the price, so it is never priced by a machine. You type the price and the daily price sync skips the listing.

Foil on SOR, SHD and TWI

  • The number does not tell a foil from a normal copy, so the photo cannot prove it. A card starts as non-foil.
  • The Foil column switches a copy, per card or in bulk edit. It moves the Cardmarket and TCGplayer prices and the listing price to the foil or non-foil price.
  • If there is no foil price, a foil copy has no price. It never takes the non-foil price.

Foil on newer sets

A foil has its own number and its own prices, so the number proves it and there is no switch.

How foil copies are listed

  • A foil copy is never mixed up with the normal one: each has its own price and SKU.
  • On eBay "Foil" goes into the title and the Finish item specific says Foil.
  • On Shopify one printing is one product, with Foil and Normal as variants.
  • The TCGPowerTools CSV carries an isFoil column for Cardmarket.
  • The daily price sync reprices a foil copy only from a foil price of the chosen source.

Serialized Prestige

  • The number on your copy moves the price, so a market figure says little about it. In the table it is only a reference.
  • Every price step asks you for a price, and every export uses only what you typed.
  • There is no eBay median for it, and the daily price sync never changes the listing, whatever the price source.

Prestige, Showcase and promos without a price

These prints can be worth far more than a plain card, so a missing price stays missing, also with a minimum price set. Type the price yourself. For how to find the right printing see how to tell which version and printing you have.
